About Padamchen

Padamchen is at an elevation/height of 8000 ft and covered in dense Alpine forests, Padamchen is a small village on the Silk Route circuit just 14 kms. from Rongli and 4 kms from Zuluk. Also referred to as lower Zuluk. Padamchen experiences a pleasant weather throughout the year and this is one of the main reasons for its popularity among tourist undertaking Silk Route. Dense forests surrounding Padamchen is home to a huge bird population like Laughing thrushes, Fulvettas, Honey Buzzards, Steppe Eagles, Babblers, Tits, Wrens and others. If you venture  deeper regions of the forest occasional visitors like Himalayan Black Bear, Red Panda and Mountain Leopards can be sighted. Staying at homestay in Padamchen, you can go to watch the sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjungha range from Thambi View Point (around 18 kms away) at 11,200 feet. Kuikhola falls is just a few minutes drive from Padamchen. In between October and March when temperature is biting cold in upper areas like Zuluk and Gnathang Valley tourists prefer to stay our Padamchen homestay and explore the upper areas till the roads are motorable and not closed due to snowfall.
