Our homestay at Padamchen is situated just 100 meters above the forest check-post, at an altitude of 8,000 ft. Nestled amidst alpine forests and rolling hills, it is the perfect blend of comfort and traditional Sikkimese hospitality. The two-storied building is built along the slope of the hill, making it both unique and scenic.
The entrance is conveniently located just below the parking area, ensuring easy access for travelers. The first level features five cozy rooms along with an open dining space that overlooks a balcony, offering stunning views of the valleys and surrounding forests. The second level houses four rooms with a large common balcony, ideal for enjoying early morning sunrises or evening relaxation.
While the structure is modern and contemporary, it retains a warm, homely charm. Guests can enjoy all essential amenities such as attached western-style bathrooms, 24-hour running water, geysers, and room heaters, making it one of the most comfortable stays along the Silk Route. Unlike a typical hotel with formal service, here you stay with a local family, experience their culture firsthand, and relish delicious home-cooked food. This personal touch makes the stay even more memorable.
Another key advantage of staying at Padamchen is its altitude. Unlike higher destinations on the Silk Route such as Zuluk, Gnathang, or Kupup (12,000 ft and above), where basic amenities like geysers or continuous water supply may be unavailable due to extreme cold, Padamchen provides a more reliable and comfortable base. In addition, Rongli town, which has the nearest medical facilities, is close by, making Padamchen a safer and more convenient choice, especially for senior tourists or families traveling with children.
With its scenic beauty, homely warmth, and modern comforts, our homestay is undoubtedly one of the best accommodations on the Silk Route.
