From January to March some places in the upper mountains may be closed due to heavy snowfall but still people visit to experience the snow.
Yes, travel along the Sikkim Silk Route is generally safe for tourists. However, due to high altitudes and remote terrain, it's important to be physically prepared and travel with proper permits. Roads can be narrow and weather-dependent, so hiring experienced local drivers and checking conditions in advance is recommended.
ATMs are limited along the Sikkim Silk Route, especially in high-altitude areas like Zuluk, Nathang, or Gnathang. It's advisable to withdraw sufficient cash in Rongpo, Rangli, or Gangtok before starting the tour. Most remote villages lack ATM facilities, however digital UPI payments are accepted in all places.
