Detailed Itinerary | 6 Nights 7 Days Gangtok & North Sikkim

DAY 1 : New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) – Gangtok (130 km/4 hrs drive)

New Jalpaiguri Railway Junction/Bagdogra Airport is about 120 km away from Gangtok hence would take around 4.5 hours for you to reach Gangtok. After check in at hotel you are free to roam around the MG Marg and Lal Market which are the major shopping markets in Gangtok.


DAY 2 : Gangtok (Full day local sightseeing)

After breakfast Gangtok full day of sightseeing. Places covered include- Ganesh Tok, Tashi View Point, Ropeway, Banjhakri Falls, Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom, Enchey Monastery, Do Drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Flower Show. Return To Hotel. Evening free to roam around MG Marg and Titanic Point. 


DAY 3 : Gangtok (Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir)

After breakfast Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir. 

The Tsomgo Lake is located at a distance of 40 km from the city centre. You’ll have a two hours drive through the beautiful Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is home to the blood pheasant and the red panda. Situated at an elevation of 12310 feet, this Lake is the snow covered in winter months.

 

Baba Mandir Near to the lake lies the Baba Mandir, a holy site for the locals as well as the tourists. It is also known as Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple.  Baba Harbhajan Singh, the “Hero of Nathula”, who according to a legend died fighting the Chinese army. His spirit is believed to be the protector of every soldier being appointed at the inhospitable Himalayan regions. 


Optional Tour- Nathu La Pass The pass connects Indian Territory of Sikkim with an autonomous region in China. (This tour is optional and extra chargeable based on special permits). Return to hotel and overnight stay.


DAY 4 : Gangtok – Lachen (About 125 Kms / 6 Hrs)

After breakfast start for Lachen. This is the best part of a Sikkim tour package for 7 days priceIn between is 5-6 hours drive to Chungthang which is 96 kms away from Gangtok to have lunch. Resume your journey to Lachen that finds itself 35 kms from Chungthang. Check in to your hotel, have some evening tea and now stroll across the tiny village and explore the untouched beauty of the place. Do visit the Lepcha Village. Post your evening walk, come back to the hotel in Lachen and take a good night sleep.


DAY 5 : Lachen –  Gurudongmar Lake– Lachung

Have your breakfast and head to Gurudongmar Lake, i.e. 55 kms from Lachen. It will take around 2.5-3.5 hours for you to reach there.  Gurudongmar Lake Take pride as Sikkim has the world’s highest lake, the Gurudongmar Lake is considered sacred by Hindus, Sikhs and the Buddhists, it is located at the height of 17800 ft. After you have catered the magic of this place within you, it’s time to be back at the resort for some lunch. Your next destination is Thangu and last but not the least the Chopta Valley. From here there is a two hours drive back to the hotel. Your evening is free for visiting the Lachung Monastery if interested. Otherwise, you can rest and make yourself ready for the following day.


DAY 6 : Lachung – Yumthang Excursion  – Gangtok

After having your breakfast, drive to Yumthang which is located at an elevated level of 11800 feet. Yumthang is a splendid valley set near to the Lachung Chu River, surrounded by gigantic mountains. During the springtime, the valley erupts with Rhododendrons, many alpine flowers and Primulae. The valley finds itself hidden in the snow cover most of the year. Post lunch, leave for Gangtok. It will be 4-5 hours drive. Optional tour to Zero Point at extra cost.


DAY 7 : Gangtok – New Jalpaiguri Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB)  ( 130km/4 hrs drive)

After breakfast and start for Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand (Junction). With this your North Sikkim tour package for 7 days ends.

A: Indians do not require any permits to visit the state, however for certain areas East Sikkim and North Sikkim you need to get inner line permits to visit. There is no permit requirements for South & West Sikkim.


For Foreign indivisuals the process is more complex with entry into the state is allowed for 30 days at a time. Also some areas of east & north Sikkim are out of bounds.
